Conference Theme:

The central theme of the 2021 HCEA virtual conference focuses on how educators can adapt to rapid changes in the health care environment while providing consistency in best practices to empower patients and caregivers with health literate information.  The conference is organized around four key pillars:

  • Health Literate Care Organizations: From Idea to Implementation
    • Share your organization’s success stories and lessons learned along the way as your organization made improvements in health literacy and patient education toward a more patient and caregiver centered care delivery model.
  • Patient Education in a Virtual World: From Bedside to Website
    • Share your innovative solutions for meeting the educational needs of patients, caregivers and staff using a variety of technology tools.
  • Misinformation in the Media Age: Finding the Truth
    • Share your experiences and best practices related to sharing accurate, reliable information related to recent “hot” topics: COVID-19, vaccines, telehealth visits, etc.
  • Effective Communication in Times of Division: Building Bridges, Not Ditches
    • Share your expertise in communication strategies among diverse patient and caregiver populations – what has worked, and what didn’t work? Will also be accompanied by “Tales from the Bedside” panel feature.
